Cancellation of Stour Valley Marathon, Stour Valley Half Marathon, Roding Around Marathon 2020
UK Athletics currently has a suspension in place to restrict the spread of COVID-19 covering all races in England until 31 May. We feel it is very unlikely now that this suspension will not be extended further.
We also feel uncomfortable planning during this period for races that would be held just after the current suspension was lifted should that even happen at the end of May, and we don’t want you to have to go out and train for long distances at present.
Company of Runners were really looking forward to our first year of staging the Stour Valley events. We are extremely sad to announce that we will not hold these races this year.
We have looked at alternative dates, but with the current uncertainty and the increasingly full Autumn race calendars we think it is best to defer our June and July races until 2021.
Entries for the above will be automatically deferred into our races for 2021. Exact dates have yet to be identified but would be at similar times to this year.
If you would prefer a full refund, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with “Refund” and which race in the subject header and we will endeavour to do that as soon as possible (when our own full-time employment chaos allows).
You can ponder that decision and ask for a refund at a later date. See how your diaries pan out.
Decisions on our Chappel Ale Trail race in September and our Friday Fright Night race in October will be taken in due course – once the situation is clearer on future race restrictions.
For government guidance on COVID-19, read: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus
Please continue to adhere to government guidelines so we can all get back to running en masse so much sooner.

COMPANY OF RUNNERS cordially invite you to join us for the 2021 running of the prestigious Stour Valley Marathon – the race previously organised by Kevin Payne for the last five years – which he has now handed over to “new management”.
Your challenge should you choose to accept it, is to self-navigate on a marathon distance trail course following the highways, byways, trails and tracks around the Stour Valley using the Stour Valley Path, St Edmund’s Way and the Essex Way.
This is a mass start event starting at 9am in the morning.
Please note that there will be four checkpoints on the route approximately seven miles apart, along with the start and finish at Nayland Village Hall.
There will be no entries available on the day, and runners are not permitted to run with dogs under UK Athletics regulations. This event is held under UK athletics rules. Trail Running Association permit #3046. We cannot permit participants aged under 18.
The course is a mixture of surfaces so trail shoes are recommended.
It will suit runners who have completed a half marathon or greater distance. We are increasing the cut-offs to eight hours, but we still expect you to be confident long-distance runners who can manage trail running in what can often be hot conditions. Participants should also be comfortable with following navigation instructions, GPS files or by reading maps.
TOEING THE LINE:

PRICE: £38 (Affiliated) £40 (Unaffiliated) – All finishers will receive a technical T-Shirt and choice of old or new medal.
