Roding Around Lite Marathon

COMPANY OF RUNNERS (CofR) are offering experienced runners the opportunity to take on the challenge of a marathon in a self-supported/ “Lite” format. This is a circumnavigation of the nine villages named Roding in the beautiful Essex countryside of the Roding Valley.

Your challenge should you choose to accept it, is to navigate on a marathon distance trail looped course following the highways, byways, trails and tracks around Aythorpe Roding, Abbess Roding, Beauchamp Roding, Berners Roding, High Roding, Leaden Roding, Margaret Roding, Morell Roding and White Roding.

TOEING THE LINE:
DATE: Sunday 24 April 2022
DISTANCE: 26.2 ish, country miles
START/FINISH LOCATION: Cammas Hall Fruit Farm, Needham Green, Hatfield Broad Oak, Near Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM22 7JT
PARKING: Free in the farm car park (Please park near our CofR flag in far corner)
START WINDOW: 8.15am-8.45am approx. Note the carpark gate will not open until 8.10am so do NOT arrive any earlier than 8.10am! The café does not open until 9am. Register with CofR team, collect tracker, alert CofR team when you’re ready to start.
FACILITIES: Toilets in farm café are only open 9am-5pm. There is a portaloo available which we can use outside of these hours. Please arrive ready to run; no changing area. Bags can be left with CofR team for use at finish if you are not parking a car. And of course we approve of car-sharing (in a covid-secure way).
PRICE: £25 (Affiliated) £27 (Unaffiliated) T-shirt orders will be £5 extra.
CUT-OFF: 8 hour max if you start at 8.15am: The café shuts at 5pm, and then we all need to vacate the carpark by 5.15pm so they can lock the gate after us.
TRA RULES: no dogs, permit #tbc, min age 18.
MANDATORY KIT: Device/watch capable of uploading the gpx route to and navigating from. (The tracker app will also show route/location -links will be supplied with final instructions email two weeks prior to the race). Mobile phone. Own fuel/fluid-there are NO checkpoints.
IMPORTANT NOTE: runners must have experience of running marathon trail races. This is not a race for new or underconfident runners. Runners will be supporting themselves; there are no checkpoints nor marshals. RD will be able to track you however and will provide support in an emergency. You can have family/friends meeting you en route but not running the entire route with you as a buddy/pacer.
WHAT’S INCLUDED: tracker, route instructions/gpx, bespoke medal for finishers, personal glory, admiration and praise from CofR team.

ENTRIES WILL CLOSE: by 8pm Friday 15 April and final instructions and navigation links will be emailed 5-7 days prior to the race.

REFUND POLICY: all refunds and transfers must be requested prior to 15 April and will be subject to a £4 admin charge. No entries will be deferred to another race nor year.
